•  Commercial and construction arbitration, particularly matters with a U.S. connection, spanning industries including chemicals, energy (LNG, oil, nuclear, electricity, power, renewables), metals and mining, aerospace, finance, manufacturing, hospitality, life sciences, and luxury goods, as well as private equity and M&A disputes.

•  U.S. litigation relating to cross-border disputes, including enforcement of arbitral awards and foreign judgments and other transnational proceedings.

Position

Mascarenhas Law PLLC is hiring a legal extern for the Fall 2026 semester to support the firm's disputes practice. Applications are due by August 26, 2026. Externs will start and end the externship in accordance with the academic calendar of their law school.

Eligibility

•  Currently enrolled 2L, 3L, or LL.M. student

•  Enrolled at a New York law school (given the expectation of 1 day/ week in office attendance)

•  Strong research and writing skills; demonstrated interest in international arbitration and cross-border disputes

Time Commitment

•  Approximately 8–15 hours per week, depending on availability, during the Fall 2026 semester

•  One day per week in-office at the firm's New York office

•  Remaining hours may be worked remotely

Responsibilities

The extern will work directly with firm attorneys on live matters, including:

•  Legal research on issues arising in investment treaty arbitrations, international commercial arbitrations, and U.S. litigation (including enforcement and cross-border proceedings)

•  Drafting memoranda, sections of submissions, and other work product

•  Cite-checking briefs, memorials, and other filings
